diy metallic pumpkins

07 October 2009

I got lots of comments on the pumpkins on top of my piano~I wish I could say I made them, but they were from Target fall clearance last year. But it did get me thinking...how hard would they be to make?

And of course I had to give it a try :)
I picked up some Krylon brushed metallic spray paint in Caramel Latte from Walmart and took a white pumpkin that used to be orange until last year:

covered the stem with tin foil, and gave her a coat of Caramel Latte:
Then I took a little can of brown paint I've had forever: (this is Krylon Gloss Leather Brown)

and started brushing it on:

then, I took a paper towel and started wiping off:

until it was as dark as I wanted:

and we now have metallic pumpkins!

Have y'all met Ashley and Whitney at Shanty 2 Chic? They are cute, frugal, craftyDIYers extraordinaire andare hosting a party that I'm joining today:

I most definitely made these without my hubby. He's just not that into spray paint, metallic, or pumpkins...which I consider a good thing :)

Happy Thursday~
