a shopping trip...

27 May 2009

When my mom, sisters and I get together, one of our favorite things to do is shop. Here are a few stores we hit (all in the Salt Lake City, Utah area):

and the mother of all home stores:

I have dreams about this store. Seriously. It is huge, beautiful, and just full of amazing treasures. I get little shakes as I walk up to the front door. I don't think I've ever made it out in under 2 hours. They don't have anything close to it where we're living in Texas right now. I even chose to fly Southwest because they don't charge you for your bags, and I knew I'd have mine filled after a visit.
Now, mind you, this isn't the shopping I've been used to. You know I've been thrifting, yard-saling, make-overing, but for this trip it was all about going to stores and paying, in some cases full price.
Gulp.
I've been saving and saving my pennies, and it was a little hard to get used to, but I caught on pretty quick. ;)
Let's go inside...
take a right over to the bargain sections (my sister-in-law, Kristine, leads me right on over~she's an expert of this store)
I picked up a couple of these urns for $3.94:

my cute little nieces were such good shoppers~do you see their monogram shirts??

do you remember the spindles that were in my bathroom that we cut down? Look what some clever souls came up with for these bench legs:
I can't remember if my spindles are in the shed or if I threw them out during a spring cleaning frenzy~I'm going to go search today...don't you love these?

dishes,

and more dishes,

they were having a tent sale outside~ linen pillows for $7.46

these urns were $4.97, but too heavy for my suitcases:

number/letter balls for .97 each:

Here's something I came home with~they had these little white flowers in pots in the tent sale for $5, the big glass bell jars were only $10 (!),

and I used a white plate underneath from the $35 yard sale. (in our bedroom on the armoire)
I love Tai Pan
*sigh*
I've gotten my yearly fix~but now, I want to know if you have been, what you think of it.
If you are a Utah girl, how do you keep yourself from going every week? I think it's probably a good thing that I don't have one close by. I'll show you a few more of my finds on Friday, but for now, have a wonderful Wednesday!
