Open Enrollment...

08 May 2009

I asked Michelle to be a special guest poster today for a Mother's Day tribute. She is my husband's sister's best friend (follow that?) and while I was stalking her blog last year, this post just touched me. I asked if she come on over and share it with y'all. Thank you, Michelle!! You can go visit her here.

Happy Mothers Day to each and every one of you~

Open Enrollment,
All Are Welcome to Join...

Happy Mother's Day, Everyone! And I say everyone for a reason.
There were so many years that I would celebrate this holiday with a broken heart. Of course I enjoyed honoring MY mother, who inspires me to be the best mom and daughter of God I can be. I loved sending cards to my grandma's, aunt's and in-laws. I even enjoyed hearing tributes on TV, in church, in magazines, about outstanding mothers who deserve a moment in the spotlight. Yet, I ached to be celebrated also... I wanted to know what that felt like to be included "in the club."

After 8 miscarriages, it felt a little unattainable. I feel honored this year to be a proud member of that special club and I thank my Toby for making me laugh everyday. I love him so much it hurts! He is my sunshine and I want to thank my loving Father in Heaven for blessing Andrew and I with this fun loving, special lil' guy and the other lil' guy that reminds me every few hours that he can't wait to come out and play. I never thought it could be this great, but it is.

Yet, I am mindful that there are sisters that are still searching for their "membership." I know how it hurts to want something so bad and not know when the answers will come. I have friends that have never married and do not have children of their own, yet have been such a example to me of a true mother. I have family and friends that have tried to get pregnant and don't know why their dreams aren't coming true. These people have worked with the youth and younger family members and are looked up to as a strong examples of passion and endurance. I also have dear friends and family that have lost their own mothers and this weekend is a bittersweet reminder.

My sisters, we can all be a part of this miraculous club! We can be that certain someone to those in need and pray to our Heavenly Father that we do not feel alone. He is with us and is mindful of our desires and struggles. He loves us and wants us to be happy. Let's find that happiness and share it with others in our club.
So, open enrollment for EVERYONE...all are welcome to join in the celebration of motherhood!
