good things to share...

12 November 2008

Have you heard of Tip Junkie? She has the best tips and ideas from other women bloggers and for the next 12 days she is featuring women from the Mom-prenuer Shop-a-thon. There are also fantastic tips on preparations for Thanksgiving and holidays PLUS 2 winners each day for the giveaways. Go check it out!

Also, some of you have mentioned that the Bath & Body Works Coupon for the free wallflower or scentport isn't on the site anymore. Here it is with three on a page in pdf format that some lovely lady shared with me: Bath & Body It expires on November 23 and my store accepted it with no problem at all. If you try to get 10 free ones, now that may be a problem. :) Print some off and share with friends.

If you can create a photo book really fast, this is a screaming deal: Peter Walsh, the king of de-cluttering and organization was on Oprah and they are offering a FREE 20 page 8X11 photobook from Snapfish. The catch is, you have to redeem your coupon by midnight on Friday, and order your book by midnight on Sunday. It would be a great gift if you can get it done! Here's the link: free photobook
I'm so glad I recorded this show~I love Peter Walsh and the de-cluttering and organizing shows and then it puts me in the mood to do it to my house! I think my nesting instinct is kicking in big time as well before this baby comes, because I have been completely gutting the closets in my house and organizing them. It feels so good and I swear I could have my own yard sale right now, but I am not even going to think about that right now. It's all going down to the good ol' Goodwill!
Some quotes from the show that I especially liked:
picture from Better Homes & Gardens
"Remove the clutter and then honor and respect those things that make your heart sing" -p.walsh
An experiment: Hang everything in your closet backwards. "You wear 20 percent of your clothes 80 percent of the time," he (Peter Walsh) says. "For the next six months, whenever you wear an article of clothing and hang it back in the closet, I want you to hang it the correct way. … If you have stuff after six months that's still hanging back to the front, you have to ask yourself, 'Are you ever going to wear it again?'"

Let your spaces say: 'When I spend money on something, I treat it well." ~P. Walsh

"When we talk about saving money, the best way to save it is not to waste it," Candice Olsen says. "And it doesn't matter how much time or energy or money you put into a room, if you haven't edited and organized and decluttered and gotten it into a beautiful, functional state first, you've wasted the money."

Aren't those great?
I've got enough projects to last me for the next few months, so I have promised to put myself on a spending freeze (nope, not even yard sales!!) until I'm caught up on the things I want to create and give myself plenty of time to prepare for the holidays and this baby so I can enjoy. I'll let you know how it goes...
My sweet sister agreed to show us her round table project with a little tutorial, so stay tuned. Have a wonderful weekend~clean out your closet and get rid of all the things you don't wear anymore if you find yourself with a spare hour~it feels sooooooo good!

  1. I wish I had the nesting instinct...I love those quotes! Another one i love is: "The more we own, the more we have to take responsiblity for. And the more things we have responsibility for, the less breathing space we have for the things of God."

  5. Thanks for the great freebie links. I've made those photobooks before. I made one for my sister after she had her baby. They're really easy and they look so nice! I'm going to make it a priority to do one (well, if my schedule can bend a little today.) This is a great deal!

Oh, I loved all the good tips on decluttering. Very motivating!

Can't wait to see your sister's round table project. I'll be waiting!
